XMAS DINNER, HO, HO, HO!
The Xmas Dinner on Monday attracted a record turn-out of 35. It was a great success, with members from London Communicators and guest toastmasters from Northern Lights and Angel Speakers, enjoying good company, good food and good conversation.
The restaurant and the bookings were organised by immediate Past President Steve Maguire who made the excellent choice of the Gem Turkish restaurant on Upper Street which gave us a private space where we could talk to our heart's content.
Why Turkish someone asked,? Answer, because Steve likes their food and St Nicholas who is better know to us as Santa Clause was born and lived in Turkey.
Heroic Michael Smith took on the Table Topics role with great enthusiasm and managed to produce nearly three dozen table topics focused around the Christmas theme with wit and humour.
Our VPE Julie Holness conducted a musical quiz which stretched our memories and brought out the competitive streak in most of us. Anyone remember which group won? Well, who cares, we simply had a great time.
Many thanks to Hilary Briggs and Lynne Cantor for gracing us with their presence.
