Pathways education programme

In 2017, Toastmasters International introduced a new education programme called Pathways. By 2020, Pathways will replace the legacy education programme, Communicator. For that reason, while some of the existing members may be working through the old programme, we are starting all our new members on the Pathways educational programme.

Pathways programme allows you to choose from 11 different learning paths with 300 real-world competencies. These competencies are designed to be useful in your job, real-world situations and community.

Pathways programme gives you access to engaging learning tools, including videos, interactive quizzes and activities, feedback and recognition, useful tips and more.

There is no instructor; instead, each speech is evaluated by a member positively, focusing on what was done well and what could be improved for next time.

Each path is made up of five levels of increasing complexity. The programme is designed this way so you’re always building on what you learned in the previous level.  At the end of each level, members are recognised and rewarded for their progress.

The 11 Paths to choose from are:

1. Motivational Strategies

2. Presentation Mastery

3. Leadership Development

4. Innovative Planning

5. Visionary Communication

6. Strategic Relationships

7. Dynamic Leadership

8. Persuasive Influence

9. Effective Coaching

10.Team Collaboration

11. Engaging Humour

For more details on what projects and speeches are required for each path, check Paths and Core Competencies document.

Members can get started with choosing their path by logging into Toastmasters International and taking the Pathways Assessment.

Members can access the projects, learning tools and evaluation forms for the chosen path through Basecamp.
